2. What are the benefits of daycare?
Doggy Daycare offers numerous benefits for both dogs and their owners. Here are some key advantages:
1. Socialisation: Daycare provides an opportunity for dogs to interact with other dogs, helping them develop social skills and reduce anxiety in social situations.
2. Physical Exercise: With plenty of playtime and activities, dogs get the exercise they need to stay healthy, happy and prevent boredom-related behaviours.
3. Mental Stimulation: Engaging in various activities and games keeps dogs mentally stimulated, which can reduce stress and behavioural issues.
4. Professional Supervision: Our trained staff closely monitor interactions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for your dog.
5. Routine and Structure: Daycare offers a consistent schedule, providing dogs with a sense of routine that can help them feel secure.
6. Peace of Mind for Owners: Knowing your dog is well cared for and having fun can relieve stress for pet owners, allowing them to focus on their daily activities.
3. What breeds do you accept?
We currently accept all breeds, each dog is assessed on an individual basis.
4. From what age can my puppy join?
Your puppy can start as soon as they have received their second set of vaccinations (including kennel cough).
5. Can I have a tour of your facility?
We appreciate your interest in visiting Legends Doggy Daycare! However, to maintain a calm and comfortable environment for our dogs, we do not offer tours of the facility. We prioritise their well-being and want to minimise any disruptions. If you have any questions or need more information about our services, feel free to reach out, and we will be happy to assist.
6. Do all dogs like daycare?
Not all dogs enjoy daycare, as each dog has its own personality and preferences. At Legends Doggy Daycare, we conduct an initial assessment to gauge your dog's comfort level. If your dog appears anxious or nervous, we recommend allowing 6 visits (must be at least once per week for initial 6 visits) to determine if they will settle in. If we believe a dog is likely to be traumatised or wont enjoy daycare, we will immediately terminate their membership for their best interest. As we approach the 6 visit mark, we will communicate any concerns regarding your dogs enjoyment of daycare. Our goal is to ensure that all our members love their time and with us!
7. Are there any disadvantages to daycare?
While doggy daycare has many benefits, there can be some potential disadvantages to consider:
1. Exposure to illness: Like any group setting, there is a risk of dogs being exposed to illnesses or parasites, although vaccination requirements help mitigate this risk.
2. Over-stimulation: Some dogs may become overwhelmed by the activity levels, which could lead to stress.
3. Not suitable for all dogs: Dogs with severe anxiety, or certain behavioural problems may not thrive in a daycare setting.
4. Cost: Regular daycare can be an added expense for pet owners, and it may not be feasible for everyone.
8. My Dog Trainer said Daycare causes behavioural problems?
As a responsible pet owner, it's essential to understand the factors influencing your dogs behaviour. If a dog trainer suggests that your dogs issues stem solely from their daycare experience, it may be time to consider looking for support from a qualified professional who understands the holistic nature of dog training.
A dog typically spends 5 - 10% of their week in daycare, leaving a substantial amount of their time spent with their owners away from daycare. It is overly simplistic - and potentially misleading - to attribute behavioural problems exclusively to daycare.
Effective dog training involves a comprehensive understanding of a dogs environment, routine, and the interactions they have with their owners. A well-educated trainer should guide you in identifying areas for improvement in your training methods and daily routines. Remember, the responsibility of training and behaviour largely lies with the owner.
9. Do you offer grooming services?
We provide a wash & dry service which includes an ear clean and nail cut. This service is only open to members of the daycare.
10. Do you offer overnight boarding services?
No, we do not currently offer overnight boarding at the daycare.
11. Do you offer once off daycare services?
No, we are a membership only daycare. This means that all dogs who attend daycare have to attend on a regular basis once they pass their assessment. The minimum attendance requirement to remain a member is at least once every two weeks.
12. How do you handle feeding time and can you administer medication?
Only dogs under one year old will generally require lunch while they are at daycare. If a dog does not eat their breakfast you can package it up and send it in with them. We do not feed the dogs together, any dog who gets lunch is removed from the group to eat.
Yes we can administer medication, please ensure it is clearly marked with your dogs name and instructions.
